Hat Trick!

Do you know what a hat-trick is? Well in cricket it means you got three people out.  For B6, it means we got three awards at assembly today.  Tidy Kiwi Award, Mathletics Trophy, and we were 3rd Best Assembly Class.  People are starting to notice how amazing we are!

Mathletics Champions

Fantastic work B6!  We are having a two week free trial of Mathletics.  Some children have really been getting into it, and winning lots of Mathletics certificates.  Ria was top student in New Zealand  one day this week.  We  the won the Mathletics trophy at assembly this week.

Tidy Kiwis

Congratulations to B6 - we won the Tidy Kiwi award this week for keeping our playground clean and tidy.  Thanks, Matua Eric for noticing our hard mahi.

B6 has a student teacher called Miss Sheard.  She has come from England, just to teach in our class.  Here she is with Harold and Bernie. Miss Sheard has a twin sister.  She's very good at using an I-Pad, and has been teaching us how to use 'Skitch'.  We took a photo of our Taniwha mask, and then wrote describing words on 'Skitch.'

BUDDY SPELLING IN B6

Everyone has a spelling buddy, and we test each other on a whiteboard almost every day.  It really helps us to learn our words.Here's Sarahna and Kellie, Cijay and Elliot practicing their spelling.

Welcome back to Term 2 at Glenholme School.  Autumn is here, and we've been having fun collecting leaves, learning about the life-cycle of a tree, and doing art.  Did you know that if you turn a leaf over, the veins are on the back?  You can put a leaf (with the veins up) under some paper, and rub it hard with a crayon.  You get a lovely leaf pattern.

ANZAC Service

On the last day of term, our school had a special assembly to think about ANZAC Day, which falls on 25th April, in our holidays.  Some old soldiers from the RSA came to talk to us.  Every class made a beautiful wreath.  We made ours out of shiny green leaves, and it was laid by Ria and Prentice. We heard the Last Post and Reveille played on the bugle.
Payton and Isaiah-Rae's great-grandfather's photo and war medals were on the stage.  Payton led the school in a haka, to honour the ANZACs and our special visitors.  His photo was in the Daily Post.
Mrs Caudwell taught us about the first ANZACs, and the red poppies, which grow in France, where many soldiers died.
